Within 2 years of its initial launch, Signature Mouthguards had established an unrivalled presence in Australian Sport. Clients have included the Australian Rugby League Team, Australian Rugby Union Team, Australian Mens Hockey Team, Australian Womens Hockey Team, Australian Netball Team, Australian Mens Basketball Team, Australian In-line Roller Blading Team and more.

Over the past decade Official Supplier status was also granted to Signature Mouthguards by a number of major sporting organisations including Australian Rugby League, Australian Rugby Union and Australian Hockey Association Inc. plus our mouthguard is an Approved Product of the Australian Institute of Sport.

Teams from the UK, Spain, Germany, Australia and the USA participating in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics were also fitted with Signature mouthguards.

Furthermore, these same technological advances have allowed Signature Mouthguards to now incorporate these cutting edge techniques into the design and production of a new range of "off the shelf " mouthguards, readily available from major sports stores and pharmacies and suited for use by all sportspeople at all levels. While these types will never match the soundness of the professionally prescribed custom fabricated Signature Mouthguard, these stock types offer many of the unique features present in the prescribed custom hand made laboratory type and provide a level of protection and comfort not before available in any ‘off the shelf’ mouthguard products.

Mr Peter Burns RDT - Founder and Chairman

Peter Burns is the co-founder of Burns and Burns Dental Laboratories Pty Ltd. and Signature Mouthguards Pty Ltd. Peter trained in one of Sydney’s larger full service laboratories. Published in numerous publications including Dental Outlook (the official publication produced by the Dental Health & Research Foundation) his specialist skills include crown and bridge, boutique dentures and vast thermoforming experience. His techniques are the basis of many courses and lectures worldwide.

Peter is also the designer and inventor of the initial Type 4 Signature Mouthguard which when launched in 1993 marked the latest and most advanced generation of prescribed custom fabricated mouthguards available on the world market. He is the inventor / owner of numerous patents and designs registered worldwide. Peter also received the 1989 Australian Design Award for his design work on mouthguards, and is a past National President of the Australian Commercial Dental Laboratories Association.

Through Peter Burns' leadership and quest for excellence, Signature Mouthguards continues to hold its place as the World's most technologically advanced mouthguard manufacturer.

Mr Michael Burns RDT - Director

Michael Burns co-founded Burns and Burns Dental Laboratories Pty Ltd and Signature Mouthguards with his brother Peter. Michael has over 20 years of high level experience in the dental profession having trained in Sydney’s leading laboratories. He has extensive skills in staff training and his specialist experience includes chromium cobalt, general prosthetics and thermoforming.

Michael is responsible for the production of all Signature mouthguards manufactured in his dental laboratory including manufacture, quality control and staff training. His handmade products are created for the world's elite sports men and women. Over the last 10 years, Michael's expertise has been employed by athletes at the highest level plus Mums and Dads who just want ‘the best’ for their children or themselves. Michael's mouthguards to date have played more than 2 million hours of sport of which 90% of these playing hours are by elite athletes who by the nature of professional sport are some 60 times more likely to sustain dental injury.
